We have just got back from the most glorious trip and are so grateful for your perseverance in persuading us to go. It was very special. We kicked off at Semiliki Safari Lodge where Yzani could not have done more to make us welcome and make our stay memorable, a beautiful place. Then the incomparable Julius scooped us up – what a magnificent man. He made our trip around Uganda such a joy and we shared so many laughs, but underneath the humour he smoothed out any potential hiccups and we appreciated his experience and professionalism. We loved Ndali with its brilliant views from its perch above the crater lake, but Honey Bear had to be the highlight. Arriving to the sight of the hippos just outside your tent and to be met by a huge bull elephant within feet of the main tent – wow! We were also so lucky in seeing the Chimps in the Kyambura Gorge and the staff made my birthday the most memorable occasion with an evening sail in the Dhow they have shipped up from Lamu, a sundowner in horseshoe bay and a cake brought in with the most energetic dancing – best birthday ever!! Rounding things off were spending time so close to a family of Gorillas at Buhoma Lodge and a memorable visit to Mbarara market. Overlaying the whole trip were the Ugandan people we met, who were almost without exception so friendly and so welcoming. A truly memorable return to Uganda for my brother and I, and huge thanks.
